miss-lady-bat asked: "Happy Mother's Day, Mother," Belinda said, offering her a bouquet of flowers. "Twenty-nine white carnations -- I thought you'd like them."
“Sweet-pea~” Martha took the flowers from the other and held them up to her face, smiling. “Oh, honey I love them. Thank you so much,” she said, softly kissing Bel on the cheek.

rouge-merle asked: "I know you're not, um //my// mom," Tim said, worrying the card in his hand. "But, um. You're my //dad's// mom, so, that makes you, special. So, um, here." He held the card out to her, face screwed up and prepared for rejection. 'Dear MumMum' had been crossed out and rewritten with 'Mrs. Wayne, Happy Mother's Day.' And 'love' was also crossed out, along with 'Yours' and replaced again with 'Love, Tim.'
“Oh Timmy,” Martha hushed out, pulling the young boy into a great big bear hug. “You’re special to me too.” She kissed the boy’s hair and rocked him in her arms. “MumMum loves you, Timmy darling.”

bat-tits asked: Happy mothers day, momma. *offers flowers*
Thank you Bethy dear. *kisses her on the forehead*

dark-forest-knight asked: "Happy Mother's Day, Mom," he said, softly, kissing her cheek.
Tears welled up slightly in her eyes as she flung her arms around him and held her Baby close. “Thank you sweetheart,” she whispered.

Meet the Waynes
Bruce sat there, stock still and in quite a lot of shock as his mother relayed the story of what was hinted at being a lesbianistic experience. He swallowed and more than once had to take a sip of his drink. He found that both him and his father did the awkward glance and look away, anywhere but at Martha.
Hayden Shepard’s mother?!
He coughed and refocused on the conversation when his father spoke.
“I’m still … worried,” he said, rubbing his face. He set his sunglasses on the table. Who cared if he was seen, at this point. “I’m going to be worried up until the day it happens … “
Completely oblivious to the awkward glances of the two most important men in her life, Martha kept on grinning wide. “Well then you keep worrying, Bruce.” she stated in a rather matter-of-fact tone. “That’s what anyone getting married does. There’s always worry and stress. Yours just…is a bit more public than others.”
She reached out to take his hand once more. “Clark is a wonderful man, and I can’t wait until I can call him my son as well.”

Meet the Waynes
Bruce struggled to meet their eyes. He couldn’t wrap his head around it. He loved Kal, with all his heart, but he still felt horrible. Out in the open, with so many people staring at him, judging him. He just wasn’t used to the intense attention. He realized he didn’t like it. Sure, Bruce Wayne, Prince of Gotham, always had cameras on him … but never so much judgement.
” … He has. I am. But … I want to know, in all honesty, and without sugar coating it … what your feelings on … the marriage, who I am, and … Kal.”
He had prepared himself for his father, a Catholic, to stiffen up and dislike even the mention of homosexuality. He expected his mother, a Jewish-to-Catholic convert, to react similarly. It would hurt, but, as a detective, he had to know the truth in all things, even if it hurt, hurt like hell.
In all their talking, the waiter had returned yet again to check on the status of his patron. After a brief exchange, Martha had the boy wishing he’d never even asked her if she wanted lemon in her tea or not… That woman could talk…
But he was off now, and it was just the three of them again. Ah. Back to business.
“Well to be completely honest,” Martha spoke right back up. “I’d be a hypocrite if I judged you for it.” To hell if this was a public place, her baby asked her a question and she was going to justify herself dammit!
When her glass was set down in front of her, she took a sip and giggled out her thanks to the nice man. “Anyway! Right. Hmmm…” She lightly rested her fingertips over her lips as she sifted through all of those memories of her younger days. “Well you must know that Momma wasn’t always so prim and proper, Brucie,” she started.
“You see there was this lovely girl in my debutante classes. Oh, it’s little Hayden Shepherd’s mother, used to bring you brownies on your playdates, remember?” Martha giggled again, her smile wide as she talked on. “See, she and I…well. All of us girls went camping together one summer, and let me tell you. That was one interesting summer. I have never before learned so much about my friends and about that woman than I did over those short days.”
Her eyes were closed as she shook her head and sipped at her tea, not even aware of the looks she was getting.

Meet the Waynes
Sitting there with his mother and father, Bruce suddenly lost his nerve. He took a deep drink from his iced tea and wished it was a Long Island Iced Tea, something stronger, vodka tonic, anything. His mother was so old fashionedly beautiful and his father was just as intimidatingly stately as always … Just as he remembered them, even if, standing shoulder to shoulder with his father now, he was an inch taller …
“No,” he said, frankly. Bruce reached up and took his sunglasses off. His right eye was bruised, an ugly mix of purples and sickly yellow-greens as it healed. His mother had been such a crusader against sex crimes, as well as hate crimes … And that horrible “church” that had picketed outside his father’s building, Thomas Wayne’s building … He felt like an embarrassment.
The Waynes had been gone for so long, and they return to their gay son and his scandals …
Now seeing his eye like this, Martha had to quell every motherly urge in her that screamed for her to get up and tend to him. So she did what she could from the seat opposite him. One gloved hand reached out to gently stroke her son’s cheek, leading to her raising his chin so his head was held high, as it should be.
“And that’s why we’re here. To help you get over whatever insecurity this is.” She sighed. “Oh, Brucie… You’re such a strong man.” She had put an emphasis on the word ‘man’, withdrawing her hand and settling back down in the seat. “Now buck up and talk to us, what can we do to help you?”

Meet the Waynes
Bruce had always considered himself a strong willed man with a well constitution. He didn’t frighten easily. He had taken all sorts of beatings and kept fighting.
Of course, this didn’t keep his hands from shaking as he lifted his drink to his lips. Wearing dark, nondescript clothes and a pair of sunglasses in the Spring afternoon sun, he blended in well with other thirty-somethings at the bistro. The paparazzi were always on high alert for the Waynes, now that they were “back from witness protection.”
He only hoped his parents didn’t get lost. The city had grown and changed since 1983 …
“Refill on your iced tea, sir?” The waiter asked, surprising him a little.
“Yes, thank you,” he said, softly. He watched him walk away and Bruce went back to worrying. Yes, he had told his parents about his upcoming nuptials. They seemed fine with their only son being gay … but he was still incredibly paranoid that they were only saying that to comfort him …
She hated going out all bundled up and hidden like this, but it was what her Brucie wanted. For them to not draw a crowd. So Martha happily donned the thick-rimmed sunglasses and pulled her hair up under a scarf before walking arm-in-arm with Thomas down the street.
“Dear, I wonder if he’s alright,” the woman sighed out to her husband. “All of this secrecy and sneaking about in public.” Martha shook her head twice. “The den at home would have made for just as nice a scene for his talk.”
The bistro was coming up on their right, and the couple veered towards it. “But it is his big day,” and even just saying that made her smile. Her baby’s big day. Oh, how she was so very thrilled. It may have been shocking at first, but if it was what truly made her Brucie happy, then she would support it to no end.
